Since my publisher has Reaper’s Requiem (book three of the Reaper series) for editing, I’ve decided to utilize my free time and work on restructuring Faith Tested. It’s book one in the Christian Fiction series I’m writing. Originally, I wrote it as a short novel and entered it into the Genesis Contest with the ACFW. I unfortunately didn’t make it out of the first round of the highly competitive contest. I am reworking the characters, going with the same plot, but also making in a full length novel.
At first I was bothered and down right depressed after I didn’t make it to the semi-finals. It’s a hard pill to swallow when you’re competitive person like I am and you don’t win. After a break from the book, I went back and looked at the critiques by the three judges, all established editors/publishers in the Christian Fiction book industry. I studied their critiques and seen the things I needed to improve. Now, with a renewed sense of urgency, I’m back to work on that book. I didn’t realize how one dimensional my characters and their conflicts were. So, with time on my side, I’m working on making it a better novel and can’t wait for the world to read it, one day.
Paramedic & Author
I’m one happy writer right now. I just hit 30,000 words in Faith Tested. It’s coming along nicely. I’m hoping to be done with the first draft within the next week. Then comes the fun part, editing. I still have plenty of time to get this book whipped into shape for the Genesis competition. This will be my first book competition that I’m entering. I’m thinking the word count will be around 50K, but we’ll see what direction it takes me.
I’ve run into stumbling blocks on this book and couldn’t seem to find the right words. Then, I would pray about it and God opened up the words to me. I’m hoping that this book will serve as tool to show that with faith in God, anything is possible.
Well, back to writing !!!
Hello all. I just wanted to give you all a little update on my recent novel, Faith Tested. I have reached 20,000 words and I would say I’m half way through the first draft. I have until March 15th to have it completed, edited, and turned in for the novel competition.
Resuscitation is being edited by the publisher and we have set a tentative release set for late March 2014. I have 40,000 words written for the third book, but we don’t have a title for it yet. I have a few ideas, but nothing has been nailed down yet.
I have another novel in the works called The Battered Son. It will be released late 2014 to early 2015. I will keep you all posted on upcoming book releases and progress.
I am currently writing a book called “Faith Tested” for the 2014 Genesis Contest being held by the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers). The deadline for said entry is March 15th. Since my publisher has the second book in the Reaper series, Resuscitation, for edits, I have put down book three in the series for now. I’m half way done on it, but push it out until book two is edited and released.
I just hit 10,000 words in Faith Tested tonight. I’m entering the novel in the short novel genre (45k-70k) and I’m hoping it will do well. This will be my first writing competition and I couldn’t pass up the chance to enter it. This is the first book in the trilogy I’d planned on writing after I finish the Reaper series.
For those of you that are waiting to read the third book of the Reaper series, please be patient. I promise you I will have it out as soon as possible. I will be writing the Christian Fiction under a pen name. I will let you all know more as I find the details out.
Again, thank you for visiting my blog. I really appreciate it.
